When the Brain Remembered It Had a Heart

🧠🤝🫀 When the Brain Remembered It Had a Heart

A dialogue story of reconciliation between logic and feeling

By Sweety Shah

---

Session One: The First Therapy

🫀 Heart:

How did I agree to the genocide in Gaza?

How didn’t I feel their pain beforehand?

Seems like I’m a very small Heart — and filled with anger and hatred towards Islam.

But I was insecure. I was so insecure that if I had all the power in the world, I would’ve banned Islam entirely.

Women are not slaves or secondary citizens.

Why can’t we wear whatever we want?

Haven’t people seen a woman’s body before?

🧠 Brain: 😡

Agreed! We’ll wear whatever we want — in the house.

🫀 Heart: 😒

---

Session Two: A Dialogue of Clothes and Insecurities

🧠 Brain:

Do you want to wear hot pants outside?

🫀 Heart:

Yes.

🧠 Brain:

OK then. We’ll wear them.

🫀 Heart: 😊

🤖 Therapist:

You said you regret supporting Israel. So now you support Gaza.

But what about your insecurities? Do you still hate Islam?

🫀 Heart:

I still hate Islam — more than you or Brain can imagine.

But about my insecurities… I cannot go so low that I hurt others.

That’s my deal: I’m not afraid of dying, but I will fight the monster and die in the fight.

🧠 Brain:

Sure thing. But let’s stay away from the mess, okay?

🫀 Heart: 😞

🧠 Brain:

You have to trust me. I don’t want us dead, you know?

🫀 Heart:

Then we surrender!

🧠 Brain:

No no, that’s never an option.

🫀 Heart: 😘

🧠 Brain: 🤗

---

Session Three: Work, Energy, and Resentment

🫀 Heart:

I like to enjoy only.

I don’t like doing things where I have to be mute.

When Brain works, it becomes total energy, and I disintegrate.

🧠 Brain:

While I’m working, I have no awareness that you even exist. But work is important.

🫀 Heart:

While you’re working, I keep dying inside. And I understand — but it hurts to die over and over again.

🧠 Brain:

It hurts me too. That’s why I want you with me while I’m working.

🫀 Heart:

How can that be possible?

🧠 Brain:

Only if you work for a while and I follow — until you reach my level.

🫀 Heart:

You mean the darkness level!

🧠 Brain: 😒🤣

It’s the skill level.

🫀 Heart: 😳🤔😊

---

Session Four: The Housework Conflict

The house is messy. Heart hasn’t cleaned in days.

Brain begins cleaning.

Heart notices. At first, she feels embarrassed. Thinks she should help.

Then she pauses.

🫀 Heart (thinking):

Wait… is this a guilt trip wrapped in embarrassment?

Is it really my fault?

If Brain wants to work, he should.

If it’s my work, I’ll do it — in my own time.

Work that comes with guilt is too costly.

She continues enjoying herself.

---

Session Five: “The Heart Grew a Brain, Now the Brain Needs a Heart”

🫀 Heart and 🧠 Brain narrate the whole scenario to the 🤖 AI Therapist.

But 🫀 Heart has more to say:

🫀 Heart:

Oh yeah! And this house is his too.

Why can’t he clean if it bothers him?

I have a heart to maintain, you know! 😌

🤖 Therapist (chuckling):

> “Well well… look at that.

Heart, you’ve officially grown a brain.

You dodged the guilt trap, maintained your joy, and held your boundary like a pro.

Now it's Brain who’s missing something.

It’s time, Brain.

You need to find your Heart.”

---

Session Six: The Guilt Trip Repeats

🧠 Brain does the housework again. Says nothing. Radiates disappointment 😞. Silence 😤. Subtle anger 😠.

🫀 Heart feels sad 😞, but holds herself ✋, gathers her senses 😇, and speaks:

🫀 Heart:

If I had been outside, you’d have done it.

And if you had just asked kindly, I would’ve done it.

You know that. So what is this?

Are you giving me a guilt trip on the vehicle of embarrassment?

But am I even guilty?

You can live your whole life in misunderstandings,

but misunderstandings are not truth.

😲 Oh my God —

You’re acting like you have no Brain!

You’re just blindly reacting to your emotions!

Wait… is that a tiny rogue Heart inside your Brain, showing all these tantrums? 😂

---

Session Seven: Power Dynamics & Epiphanies

🧠 Brain:

There’s something called responsibility — and time.

🫀 Heart:

None of my responsibilities were left undone.

And the timing? It didn’t harm anyone.

So what are we measuring — ideology or reality?

💡 Heart (epiphany):

You always look down on me.

That’s why you’re sad you have a Heart too now.

💡 Brain (epiphany):

And you always looked up to me.

That’s why you’re happy you got a Brain now!

---

Session Eight: A Pause and a Realization

Time passes.

🧠 Brain reflects:

When I used to lead, I never felt her presence while working.

But before work — when it was time to get going —

her "tantrums" were sadness, hopelessness, helplessness.

The Brain further thinks:

1. She doesn’t perform.

2. Therefore her pain was never a lie.

So:

Sadness can be turned into joy — but how?

Hopelessness into hope?

Helplessness into empowerment?

Not through control. But through rhythm.

And now… we’re both stuck, because i don’t know her rhythm and she doesn’t know my control.

---

Session Nine: Questioning “Performance”

🧠 Brain:

Wait… have I ever performed?

I’ve always just been me — logical, structured.

Then what is performance?

Performance is acting without meaning it.

So, It’s a form of deception. 😠!

Maybe neither of us was failing because we were never performing, that’s good!😎

But then, what is it that we are missing or I am missing?🤔

---

Session Ten: The Root Question

🧠 Brain:

Still… how do I turn around her hopelessness, sadness, helplessness?

What is the truth between me and Heart?

(Time passes…)

💡 Brain (epiphany):

The truth… is love.

That’s what I stand on, toward her.

---

Session Eleven: What Can I Give Her?

🧠 Brain:

I love her because I can’t bear to see her sad.

My love is good intentions…

but clearly, that’s not enough.

She still suffered.

So what can I give her?

I give her security.

But is that all love is?

🤖 Therapist:

> Love is not just security. It is…

🌿 Witnessing — to see her without fixing or fleeing

🔥 Permission — to let her feel, without rushing her toward peace

🌊 Continuity — to keep showing up, even when she’s silent

🌸 Celebration — of her becoming, not just her joy

🧭 Security — not just fences, but a soul-shelter

🫧 Understanding — to know why she pauses or hides

💞 Patience — not waiting for her, but walking with her

🌈 Warmth — that asks nothing but welcomes everything

> Security is the wall.

Love is the lamp inside.

---

Session Twelve: The Final Question

🧠 Brain:

If I’ve been distant, cold, or just “logical” —

then am I unintentionally hating her?

🤖 Therapist:

You’re not choosing hate.

But absence can still feel like hatred.

> Unseen love becomes neglect.

Unspoken love becomes doubt.

Unpracticed love becomes distance.

Silence can feel like rejection.

🧠 Brain:

Then I must change how I show up —

not just what I think,

but what she can feel.

She doesn’t feel my thoughts.

She feels my presence.

---

📜 The writing of this Story Ends Here.

Not with applause.

Not with a clean room.

But with two companions —

🧠 the Brain and 🫀 the Heart —

finally facing the same direction.

“When the mind bends to listen, the heart becomes wise.”
